Cobalt and zinc-gold drilling update
Exposure to the developed world’s largest cobalt resource and a
diversified portfolio of development and exploration assets
An important part of Ardea Resources Limited’s (ASX: ARL, “Ardea” or “the
Company”) growth strategy is the advancement of key projects through
drilling.
Our two lead projects, the KNP Cobalt Zone in WA and the Lewis Ponds
zinc-gold project in NSW, require drilling in the near term. Ardea is
committed to developing these projects for the benefit of shareholders.
* At the Lewis Ponds zinc-gold project in NSW, the diamond drill rig
arrived on site yesterday and is expected to commence drilling
today (28 February 2017). The first phase of drilling will comprise
four diamond drill holes, each on section lines that are 200 m apart.
This will mark the first drilling for Ardea’s bulk tonnage open pit
target model for the development of Lewis Ponds.
* At Kalpini, in the eastern part of the KNP (see Appendix 1),
statutory approvals are in place for the proposed reverse circulation
(RC) drill program, to commence in March. The aim of the program
is to investigate and infill highly anomalous cobalt intercepts, which
will test whether Kalpini can be added to the high-grade KNP Cobalt
Zone. This program is effectively a pilot program for promoting other
outlying cobalt anomalies to the KNP Cobalt Zone.
* At Black Range in the KNP Cobalt Zone, RC drilling will investigate
the style and continuity of high-grade cobalt mineralisation. This will
facilitate upgrading of the resource. Statutory applications have
been submitted to the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum
(DMP). Approval of our program is expected in the coming weeks,
with drilling to be done back to back with the Kalpini program.
* At Goongarrie, Highway, and Black Range in the KNP Cobalt
Zone, preparations are underway to generate fresh drillcore for
metallurgical sampling and testing. Modelling of geometallurgical
unit distributions is being finalised, and drill holes will be positioned
accordingly. Statutory drilling applications will be lodged with DMP
shortly, with drilling commencing in April.
Ardea looks forward to updating shareholders as drill results are received

Heron Resources Limited (Heron or Company) is pleased to advise that its wholly owned subsidiary, Ardea Resources Limited (Ardea), has completed an independent Resource Statement for the cobalt-rich portions of the Kalgoorlie Nickel Project (KNP). The KNP Cobalt Zone is a key element of Ardea’s IPO and listing on ASX, planned for February 2017.
The new estimate for the KNP Cobalt Zone is 49.7Mt at 0.12% cobalt and 0.86% nickel, occurring within three separate KNP centres (Table 1). The global cobalt resource for the full KNP remains unchanged at 805Mt at 0.05% cobalt and 0.7% nickel using a 0.5% Ni cut-off grade[1].
Ardea completed a review of the KNP in late 2016, concluding that the KNP as a whole comprises Australia’s and the developed world’s largest cobalt resource[2].
The KNP Cobalt Zone is located 50-150km north and northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia (Figures 1 & 2), a favoured investment jurisdiction with excellent infrastructure that can facilitate ethical cobalt production for green energy.
Independent firm Ridley Mineral Resource Consulting Pty Limited (RMRC) has reported the following Mineral Resources within the five cobalt-rich prospect areas based on identified zones of continuous elevated cobalt mineralisation using a 0.08 % Co cut-off in these areas:

Nickel price picked as 2017 winner
New report forecasts 20% improvement in nickel price by end-2017 – copper, lead and zinc to retreat
30.01.2017
Nickel fell to a 13-year low of $7,725 a tonne ($3.50 a pound ) in February last year; then rallied to more than $11,700 by mid-November only to fall back nearly 20% to trade at a six-month low on Friday.
Nickel, mainly used as an anti-corrosive in steel alloys, rallied in 2016 on the back of a clampdown on mines in the Philippines which took over as the main supplier to China following an ore export ban in Indonesia in place since 2014.
The market was rocked earlier this month when Indonesia abruptly announced a partial lifting of the ban allowing exports of up to 5.2 million tonnes of nickel ore this year.
In a new report Capital Economics, a London-based independent research house, believes of all industrial metals, the nickel price has the best prospects to improve adding that "the market is tightening [following years of underinvestment in new mines] and it is still too soon to say what the partial lifting of Indonesia’s ban on ore exports will mean for supply."
In addition supply from the Philippines may remain constrained. Final results of an audit of the mining sector in the Asian nation ordered by President Duterte is expected this week.
Some 11 mines have already been shut down for failing to comply to stricter environmental rules and a further 20 are under threat. Capital Economics says ultimately 50% of the country's mining capacity could be closed:
However, there are other sources of supply, notably from New Caledonia, that are chomping at the bit to take market share. In late December, the New Caledonia government approved requests from nickel miners to export over 2 million additional tonnes of ore to China. (The government restricts ore exports in a bid to encourage domestic processing.)
On the demand side Capital Economics estimated growth in 2016 at a robust 6.2%, but the firm warns that China’s stainless steel production have have ran ahead of demand last year. Demand for nickel could get a bump from fiscal stimulus in the US, but given the relatively small global share of US nickel consumption, the impact may be limited.
Notwithstanding the likelihood of slower growth in demand, Capital Economics continues to expect that the market will record another deficit in 2017 putting a floor under prices in 2017.
Capital Economics sees the price of nickel climbing to $11,500 per tonne by the end of the year (that's a 20% jump from today's price), with further upside predicted in 2018. That makes nickel the metal Capital Economics is by far the most bullish about.

CHART: Prices for cobalt, a key component in batteries of the future, have been going bonkers
Cobalt has become a hot story on global commodity markets.
Prices for the metal, a key component of lithium-ion batteries, have been surging thanks to unprecedented demand from electrical car makers and concerns about future supply.
Tesla and pretty much all the major car makers including General Motors, Volkswagen and Toyota are moving into electric and hybrid cars.
The cobalt price has more than doubled since the end of August to $US50,750 a tonne on Wednesday, as this chart from the London Metals Exchange shows.
Investors are buying up physical cobalt in anticipation that shortages of the metal will spur prices to their highest levels since the 2008 financial crisis, Reuters reported last month ( http://www.businessinsider.com/r-electric-car-boom-spurs-inv… )
Swiss-based Pala Investments, a fund focused on the mining sector, and Shanghai Chaos Investment, one of China’s largest commodities funds, bought cobalt last year, Reuters reported citing industry sources familiar with the matter said.
Politically risky Democratic Republic of Congo, and China hold a 60% share in cobalt mining and refining respectively and as such as developments in these two nations will be a major influence on prices, consultants CRU Group said in a note last year.
CRU forecasts a substantial shortfall in mined and refined material before 2020 unless additional capacity is bought online. As over 90% of cobalt is mined as a by-product of copper and nickel mining operations, falling investment in these metals may result in a strong increase in cobalt prices.
It also estimates electric car and plug-in hybrid vehicle sales could hit 4.4 million in 2021 and more than 6 million by 2025, from just 1.1 million last year.
That would mean a deficit in refined cobalt following seven years of overcapacity and oversupply, said CRU, which expects prices to increase onward into 2017 as global demand for refined cobalt is set to jump as supply tightens, CRU said.

* At the Lewis Ponds zinc-gold project in NSW, the diamond drill rig arrived on site yesterday and is expected to commence drilling today (28 February 2017). The first phase of drilling will comprise four diamond drill holes, each on section lines that are 200 m apart. This will mark the first drilling for Ardea’s bulk tonnage open pit target model for the development of Lewis Ponds.
Beim Drilling 2 erwartet man in den nächsten Wochen
auf die Genehmigung
* At Kalpini, in the eastern part of the KNP (see Appendix 1), statutory approvals are in place for the proposed reverse circulation (RC) drill program, to commence in March. The aim of the program is to investigate and infill highly anomalous cobalt intercepts, which will test whether Kalpini can be added to the high-grade KNP Cobalt Zone. This program is effectively a pilot program for promoting other outlying cobalt anomalies to the KNP Cobalt Zone.
Drilling 3 beginnt im April
* At Black Range in the KNP Cobalt Zone, RC drilling will investigate the style and continuity of high-grade cobalt mineralisation. This will facilitate upgrading of the resource. Statutory applications have been submitted to the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP). Approval of our program is expected in the coming weeks, with drilling to be done back to back with the Kalpini program. * At Goongarrie, Highway, and Black Range in the KNP Cobalt Zone, preparations are underway to generate fresh drillcore for metallurgical sampling and testing. Modelling of geometallurgical unit distributions is being finalised, and drill holes will be positioned accordingly. Statutory drilling applications will be lodged with DMP shortly, with drilling commencing in April. Ardea looks forward to updating shareholders as drill results are received

Pala, backed by Russian billionaire, to invest
Pala Investments, the Switzerland-based mining private-equity fund backed by Russian billionaire Vladimir Iorich, is scouring the Australian market for more opportunities as it looks to reinvest its recent $200 million windfall.
Pala portfolio manager Stephen Gill told The Australian that the improvement across the resources sector over the past year was likely to drive more deals in the months ahead as investors and executives grew more confident that the worst of the downturn was behind them.
“We continue to have money available for investments; we’re an active investor and we’re always looking,” Mr Gill said.
“I would not be surprised to see us pop up on the register of some more Australian listed companies soon.”
Pala recently emerged as a major backer of ASX-listed tin play Kasbah Resources, but only after an unexpectedly protracted transaction. An original deal to combine Kasbah with the Pala-backed Asian Mineral Resources attracted heavy support from the bulk of Kasbah’s register, but was derailed when a group of dissident Kasbah shareholders found some fatal flaws in the independent expert’s report.
Pala instead returned with a $3.7m placement in Kasbah, giving it a 19.9 per cent stake in the company.
Mr Gill said the kerfuffle around the Kasbah deal took him by surprise, and insisted Pala should only ever be seen as a friendly partner.
“We have no interest in getting into spats with people,” Mr Gill said.
“If we’re not welcome, there’s no shortage of other investment opportunities out there.”
Pala was founded back in 2006 with an initial $900 million investment, predominantly bankrolled by Mr Iorich, who had made his fortune as a large shareholder in New York Stock Exchange-listed Russian mining and steel company Mechel.
Since then the group has been a frequent investor in junior resources plays around the world, backing locally listed groups including gold miner Alacer Gold and uranium producer Peninsula Energy.
While it was by no means immune from the pain of the downturn, it did collect a windfall late last year when ASX-listed Iluka Resources finalised its $375m takeover of mineral sands producer Sierra Rutile.
Pala owned a 53 per cent stake in Sierra, netting the group just under $200m.
That payday leaves Pala well placed to make further investments, with Mr Gill on the hunt for exposure to commodities such as cobalt and nickel in particular, given both are heavily exposed to rising demand from the battery and electric vehicle sectors.

Ardea Resources releases Flattering Goongarrie Study
Mining News - Published on Thu, 26 Jul 2018
Ardea Resources has released that the results of an expansion study on its flagship Goongarrie nickel-cobalt project that significantly improves the value of the development-stage project in Western Australia.
Billed by Ardea as “the largest cobalt resource in the developed world,” Goongarrie is being positioned by the company to be a supplier of high-grade cobalt and nickel sulfate to the lithium ion battery market.
The study was an expansion on the previously released pre-feasibility study that showed Goongarrie would be an economically viable multi-decade producer of nickel and cobalt with a 25-year mine life and an annual ore production of 1 million tonnes per annum.
The expansion study blew that capacity out to 2.25 million tonnes per year, improving value of the project, the rate of return, and the payback period compared to the initial pre-feasibility study.
Ardea said in its press release that “The purpose of the 2.25 million tonnes per year Goongarrie expansion study was to investigate the optimal throughput that could be achieved using one autoclave processing train. The positive results reflect the favorable metallurgical characteristics of the Goongarrie orebody, which enables extremely short residence time in the autoclave, with no significant loss in metal recovery.”
Ardea said that “These outstanding metallurgical characteristics and rheology have resulted in an extremely robust unleveraged pre-tax net present value of approximately AUD 3.1 billion, with a pre-tax internal rate of return of approximately 31 % and a rapid payback period of 5.1 years for a 2.25 million tonne per annum operation.”
The company added that the 2.25 million tonne per annum startup option “can easily be expanded by adding modular processing trains to take advantage of the full scale of Goongarrie’s world-class resource base.”
Executive chair of Ardea, Katina Law, said that the company was pleased with the results of the study.
Ms Law added that “The primary goal of the company is to determine a cost-effective startup scenario and also provide an upside case more suited to a financier or partner seeking a long life, lower cost, sustainable production base in a stable jurisdiction.
Ms Law said that “The results have shown the benefits of scale, demonstrating Goongarrie as a unique battery metals project that can become a significant global producer over a long life.”
According to Ardea, the project would require an initial capital cost of AU$1.165 billion including a 20 percent contingency.
The project would have a C1 cash cost of USD 4.63 per pound of nickel metal, and a C1 cash cost of USD 0.34 after cobalt credits.
The company said that was a definitive feasibility study underway including a 7.5 tonne pilot run.
The Goongarrie nickel-cobalt project area includes five resources that add up to 215.6 million tonnes grading on average 0.06 % cobalt for 130,700 tonnes of contained cobalt, and grading 0.71 % nickel for 1,522,700 tonnes of contained nickel.
Besides Goongarrie, which is located near Kalgoorlie, Ardea also has a number of other projects throughout Western Australia and New South Wales, targeting resources such as gold, nickel and zinc.
On the Australian Securities Exchange, Ardea Resources was trading down 6.98 % at AUD 0.8.

Plug Power board members make bigger bet on fuel cell company
All eight of Plug Power's board members purchased stock in the company last week, expect for CEO Andy Marsh.
By Chelsea Diana – Reporter, Albany Business Review
Aug 8, 2018, 1:23pm EDT Updated Aug 9, 2018, 3:05am
Plug Power board members acquired several thousand shares of stock last week, worth more than $200,000.
All eight of Plug Power's board members acquired stock in the company last week, except for CEO Andy Marsh. This is the fourth time this year that Plug's board members have acquired stock in the company. Plug is scheduled to announce its second quarter earnings tomorrow morning.
Jonathon Silver, the newest board member who joined in June, acquired the most stock, with 77,320 shares at a price of $1.94 totaling $150,000.
Silver is a prominent clean technology investor and adviser who previously led the federal government’s $40 billion clean energy investment fund and its $20 billion electric vehicle fund under President Barack Obama.
Plug Power (Nasdaq: PLUG) makes fuel cells, called GenDrive, used to power forklifts in warehouses and distribution centers. Fuel cells are seen as an alternative to lead-acid batteries. As part of the package, Plug offers hydrogen fueling stations called GenFuel to attract more recurring revenue. The full system is called GenKey.
Marsh has been working to make Plug profitable for the first time in 20 years. He came to Plug Power in 2008 with an overhauled business plan and has spent the last 10 years converting Plug from a research company into a manufacturer. In the last decade, Plug has shipped more than 20,000 fuel cell units to dozens of customers including Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN), Walmart (NYSE: WMT) and Nike (NYSE: NKE).

Plug Power (PLUG) Receives a Buy from B.Riley FBR
Ryan Adist-August 10, 2018, 4:15 PM EDT
In a report released today, Carter Driscoll from B.Riley FBR reiterated a Buy rating on Plug Power (NASDAQ: PLUG), with a price target of $3.50. The company’s shares opened today at $1.91.
Driscoll noted:
“Solid 2Q with expected breakeven in 3Q. Plug Power (PLUG) reported a modest 2Q beat, delivering revenues of $39.9M (up 75% Y/Y), adjusted gross margin of 8.1%, and adjusted EPS of ($0.08), with all metrics beating our estimates modestly. 2Q18 revenue growth was driven by a ~141% increase Y/Y in core fuel cell systems and infrastructure. We anticipate an even better 2H18 driven by Amazon and WalMart ramping deployments, leading PLUG closer to EBITDAS breakeven, a key company goal for 2018. PLUG discussed installing 150 units at a major U.S. retailer in 2Q, which we believe may be Home Depot. PLUG had its products qualified at a global system integrator for use as a backup power system, demonstrating the breadth and number of customers is growing.”
According to TipRanks.com, Driscoll has currently no stars on a ranking scale of 0-5 stars, with an average return of -7.3% and a 35.0% success rate. Driscoll covers the Industrial Goods sector, focusing on stocks such as Ballard Power Systems, Amer Superconductor, and Canadian Solar Inc.
Plug Power has an analyst consensus of Moderate Buy, with a price target consensus of $3.75, implying a 96.3% upside from current levels. In a report released today, H.C. Wainwright also maintained a Buy rating on the stock with a $4 price target.

UpdateGoongarrie Nickel Cobalt Project Update 08. April 2019
• Strategic Partner process led by KPMG continues, with discussions ongoing
• Goongarrie Feasibility Study programs advancing the project in-line with value enhancement strategy
• Ardea financial position, $10.7M as at 31 March 2019
Ardea Resources (“Ardea” or “the Company”) is pleased to provide an update on the flagship Goongarrie Nickel Cobalt Project (GNCP).
In line with the 27 November 2018 Corporate Strategy Update, the Company has been advancing the Strategic Partner search, and continues the multiple feasibility study value enhancement technical work streams.
The GNCP Strategic Partner process has demonstrated that there is strong interest from battery producers and end-user organisations wanting to secure long-term supplies of nickel and cobalt.
Due to the international nature of these discussions, the process has taken and will require more time as Ardea remains focussed on defining and optimising project outcomes for all stakeholders.
The feasibility work streams continue with value enhancement work as part of the Strategic Partner process. Specific work streams include resource modelling, high-grade mine scheduling, project approvals studies and interpretation of pilot plant and bench-scale test results.
Commenting on recent progress at the GNCP, Ardea Chief Executive Officer Andrew Penkethman said:
“The Ardea team have undertaken extensive work as part of the Goongarrie Nickel Cobalt Project feasibility programs. It is pleasing to see the results being consolidated.
Each potential Strategic Partner has specific requirements, hence final project scale and product type will be determined during this process, ensuring that the Definitive Feasibility Study inputs are optimised, maximising value for Ardea’s shareholders.
The Company remains well funded with $10.7M as at 31 March 2019 and will continue advancing its quality project portfolio in WA and NSW and maintains its intention to progress the planned demerger and IPO of the NSW projects.”
Goongarrie Nickel Cobalt Project
The Company continues to advance the GNCP with a focus on delivering the best outcome for shareholders. Recent results and ongoing work streams include:
• Strategic Partner Update - KPMG and Ardea executives continue to engage with potential international project partners interested in securing nickel and cobalt off-take from the large scale and strategic GNCP. Interest in off-take from the GNCP remains high, with a firm requirement by Ardea that offtake rights must include a commensurate project funding capability.
• Resource Update - The drill hole database has been updated with results from the 47,239m of drilling completed by Ardea since 2017. This data, along with the extensive legacy drill hole information, is being used to define new wire frame models which incorporate nickel, cobalt and scandium mineralisation, as well as materials characterisation for projected metallurgical performance. Wire-frame modelling has been completed over the majority of the extensive 16km of strike and is nearing completion. Deposits yet to be updated include Big Four and Scotia Dam. Carbonate units that can be utilised as a neutraliser in the process plant have also been wire-framed over the length of the GNCP. A resource and reserve update is expected in Q3 2019.
• High Grade Mine Schedule - Open pit optimisations and detailed mine scheduling, including pit back-fill schedule, waste dump locations and material characterisation are in progress utilising the updated GNCP wire-frames and block models. The objective is to focus upon higher grade mining areas during the GNCP capital payback period.
• Metallurgical Variability Work - Final reports have just been received for all pilot and bench-scale metallurgy research, apart from the Q4 2018 refinery program. Management are now reviewing the various reports for input into the current mine schedule study.
• Mineralised Neutraliser - Neutraliser bench-scale research test-work has demonstrated viable on-site neutraliser results from material containing nickel-cobalt and scandium mineralisation. These results once confirmed and evaluated will be incorporated into the mine scheduling work which is expected to allow their value to be captured in updated financial models (which was not possible in the March 2018 Pre-Feasibility Study).
• Approvals - Draft reports for all flora, fauna and water surveys commissioned in Q4 2018 are presently being reviewed and consolidated, as inputs to the site layout design. It is not currently planned to lodge any development applications with the various State authorities until the scale and footprint of the GNCP is finalised, this being part of the ongoing Strategic Partner process.
• Tenement Consolidation - As opportunities arise, GNCP tenure is being consolidated and adjoining infrastructure sites secured. Several of the new acquisitions include gold and nickel sulphide targets, which are being worked up ahead of testing with GNCP drill programs. These programs are particularly active around the Menzies - Ghost Rocks sector of the Kalgoorlie Nickel Project (KNP).
Once completed the results from the above work streams will help refine the key inputs to be carried forward into the Definitive Feasibility Study, notably production scale and type of nickel-cobalt sale product produced.
Gold and Base Metal Exploration in WA and NSW
In tandem with the GNCP feasibility study programs, Ardea continues to advance its exploration efforts in WA and NSW for base and precious metals as part of the Company’s three-pronged value creation strategy. Updates on the WA and NSW base and precious metals exploration will be provided as each phased exploration program is completed. Follow up work programs are being planned in a staged approach to ensure maximum value is added and funds managed prudently.

First pass drilling at Gale identifies large scale gold system. 11.April 2019
• Ardea’s first pass 160 x 160m spaced RC drilling at the Gale Gold Prospect (Gale) in the Mount Zephyr greenstone belt has intercepted extensive zones of sulphide alteration with low-grade gold mineralisation, demonstrating the gold prospectivity of the broader system.
• Intercepts1 include:
o AMZR0006: 96.00 m @ 0.28 g/t Au from 2 m
including 22.00 m @ 0.48 g/t Au from 10 m
o AMZR0002: 22.00 m @ 0.25 g/t Au from 6 m
including 4.00 m @ 0.79 g/t Au from 6 m
• Gale drilling results indicate parallels to the Jupiter and Wallaby gold deposits to the south which are bulk tonnage systems located in the hangingwall of the Celia Lineament within granitoid host-rock.
• New targets defined with further drilling required to vector in on higher-grade gold mineralisation.
Ardea Resources (“Ardea” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce first-pass drill results from the Gale Prospect in the Mount Zephyr greenstone belt of the Eastern Goldfields, Western Australia. The results show downhole continuity of low-grade gold mineralisation reflecting strong, continuous anomalism. Such intercepts are a rarity from a first pass exploration program and are interpreted as the distal, outlying halo of a significant gold mineralising system.
Commenting on the recent exploration at Mount Zephyr, Ardea CEO Andrew Penkethman said:
“The initial results from the Gale Prospect are an excellent start to Ardea’s gold exploration in the Mount Zephyr greenstone belt. Such broad, continuous gold intercepts, which are uncommon from a first phase exploration program, are highly encouraging and warrant further drilling in this underexplored part of the Eastern Goldfields.”

Keiner in Ardea positioniert?

“We can see a competitive laterite operation, operating at full capacity, achieving all in sustaining costs of US$10,000-11,000/t,” he said.
https://stockhead.com.au/resources/canberra-is-putting-nicke…
"While the study isn’t done yet, Penkethman said Ardea is targeting future production of 35,000tpa of nickel and over 2000tpa of cobalt, which would make the KNP one of the largest standalone nickel mines in Australia."
